1967 - New Jersey Year

American Can Company

The company flew us to New Jersey to see the new working environment and helped us find a new home to live in. We found a brand new house in Franklin Lakes, just 20 minutes from the new engineering office in Fairlawn. Homes were far more expensive in Bergen County, New Jersey than they were in Neenah, Wisconsin. The company made arrangements with a bank for low-interest signature loans to help us with the down payment. The company then moved us, lock, stock, and sailboat, to Bergen County, New Jersey.

We took a short vacation on our way to New Jersey. We took a northern route through southern Canada. One of the attractions was the Expo in Montreal, where we spent a day viewing as many of the various countries’ pavilions. We then drove south through upstate New York.
